THE MOST EFFECTIVE WAY OF SCARING BIRDS AWAY FROM RUNWAYS
TOM500 is an automatic, stationary unit designed for long-term outdoor operation in all weather conditions. The system is a Class 2M laser product, as per the IEC 60825-1 standards for Laser Safety. It poses virtually no risk to eyes, including when viewing the laser beam directly.
The laser constantly sweeps across the runway at speeds up to 2000 feet/min and 1 to 1.5 feet above the runway centerline. The laser delivers a 6-inch diameter expanded and collimated beam over a working distance of 5000 feet. Depending on the runway profile and airfield topography, one system covers runways of up to 10000 feet.
The system is fully automatic and can operate 24/7, with remote monitoring and control through LAN, Internet and wireless.
TOM500 offers unprecedented benefits not available with any other systems.
NO HABITUATION
No bird habituation to the laser was observed during nearly 3 years of real-world testing at airports. Such visual deterrent - the stick-like effect - actually stimulates the birds reflex for survival every time. While a bird may get used to noise and sounds, it won’t ever try to test a stick blow.

PERMANENT SOLUTION
By constantly scanning the runway, TOM500 creates a permanent risk area for birds which encourages them to find new, safer roosting and feeding grounds. Users have reported up to 94% reduction in bird activity on runway areas.
ALL WILD BIRD SPECIES
No matter which continent of the world they come from, all wild bird species have a strong will to survive and they all fly away at the sight of the stick coming to beat them.

HARMLESS & NUISANCE-FREE
Unlike traditional acoustic and pyrotechnic devices, laser is a silent and nuisance-free technology. Also, the Class 2M laser radiation is certified 100% eye-safe and does’nt hurt birds as well.
NO VISUAL HINDRANCE
Whether at day or night, there is no visual hindrance for pilots as the light beam is not visible outside a 15-degree cone angle. No perception of the laser was reported by pilots during the testing phase at both civil and military airports in a variety of weather and light conditions.
